Help us help the house

Cumbernauld House

So we’ve been running now for almost 6 months and things have been crazy busy around the house in that time…including a new owner.  Whilst we welcome the work being done on the house we are still of the opinion that it should be a public building and with that in mind we need your help.

There is money available from various organisations not least of which the Campsie Centre LTD whose main purpose is to advance the citizenship of Cumbernauld.  We’d like you to contact your local Councillors and MSP’s and ask them to help pressurise the powers that be into helping the trust buy the house.

We’ve already written to every Cumbernauld Councillor and MSP as well as the Culture Minister, our own MP Gregg McClymont and the Prime Minister.  With varying degrees of reaction.  We’re giving the councillors who have not replied a little time to come back to us before we out them ;-).

We’ve written a template document for the Councillors here and the MSP’s here.  Details of who your MSP’s and Councillors are can be found under the campaign area of our How you can help tab above.

  1. I live in the United States and have no voice in your local government. Nonetheless, I’d like to contribute in some way to assuring that Cumbernauld House is preserved as a public building. I hope the local government will act in the best interest of its citizens and do this. It would be sad to see Cumbernauld House turned into apartments.

  2. Thanks Nancy we appreciate the support. It has been overwhelming the support we’ve had from all over the world and shows that the world over we have support for our heritage.

  3. Ditto what Nancy said. Preservation of local histories and what the citizens in Cumbernauld are doing about it are things that interest people all over the world. Please continue to let us foreigners know what we can do to show our support.

  4. Hello,
I’m a local resident living in Kildrum and wanted you to know that I am wholeheartedly behind the Trust. I hope you will be successful in your hopes and wish for Cumbernauld House.

  5. The local history here is absolutely amazing and totally under-rated. To see this historic building as apartments would be totally gut wrenching for the community. I really would love to see CUMBERNAULD HOUSE (CASTLE) as a local museum, art gallery and a place for locals and historians to gather and discuss history with local children to inject pride back into Cumbernauld and the people!

Keep up the good work! Modern tech can be very handy in times like this!

    Good Luck
