Planning Application

Planning Hearing D-Day

Tomorrow North Lanarkshire Council Planning Committee will host a public hearing at Motherwell’s Civic Centre at 11am, where they will determine the future of Cumbernauld House.

Despite representations to the council that this public hearing be held in Cumbernauld, they have rejected our requests (and those of MSPs Jamie Hepburn and Cathie Craigie, and MP Gregg McClymont) and the hearing will go ahead in Motherwell.

at this hearing the applicants, CHB Developments Ltd, and only three objectors will have the chance to speak for a maximum of five minutes, after which they will have the chance to question each other. Following this, the planning committee will ask questions of the applicants and objectors and then make a decision to approve or reject the application.

Cumbernauld House Trust will be there and have arranged legal representation to speak on the Trust’s behalf. We will also have two Trustees speak in opposition to the developer’s plans to convert the grade A listed, 280 year old building and grounds into ten residential properties.

Cumbernauld House Trust invites you to come along and show your support in saving a key piece of the town’s history from a high priced residential development.

There is a direct train link from Cumbernauld to Motherwell, with trains running every hour at 10 minutes past. The journey takes around 20 minutes and a return will cost £3.90. For those of you coming by car, the post code to enter into a Sat Nav is ML1 1AB.

We hope to see you there… together we can make a difference.

  1. I’m sorry I can’t be at the meeting as I care for my elderly mother full time but in there in spirit.
