Progress Report May 2011

Lot’s happening at the house when we went down today for a walk around.  The majority positive from a purely architectural point of view – which is good news.  Firstly the back car park has been cleared of debris.  This frees up lots of parking for the park and enables easy access to areas of the house to see what is going on.

Next lots of vans and such like are all over the house making changes and repairs.  One of the windows at the back has been removed completely (hopefully just for repair!).

The outside looks like it’s been cleaned up and the windows in the joining corridor between the house and the side buildings have been opened up and it makes the house look so much better.

This really shows how beautiful this building is when it’s at it’s best.  The fence is still firmly in place which makes the place look unsightly but you can see real progress.

The one area we were a little concerned about was at the back.  One of the outbuildings (on the right as you go through the arch at the back) has been completely demolished to make way for the new housing units in there and things are beginning to look different.

The old lean to at the back of the house that was demolished early on has now been removed entirely making the back of the building look much better and less derelict.  Which is nice to see.  So far nothing too bad in what has been happening.  We’ve been in contact with NLC and they are regularly sending people from their team out to inspect the site and have assured us nothing bad has happened in there.  This is good news and the more this goes on the better.  If they could finish their plans and make it sustainable for the future I am sure that the residents and the community of Cumbernauld would heave a huge sigh of relief…now about that access!  😉

  1. Thank you for that news.
Just a wee note, on my iPhone, most of the pictures are lying on their sides.
